Social network to promote Italy-USA business and scientific collaborations in Biotech, Nanotech, Cleantech and High-tech.

Bridges to Italy's

Why Bridges to Italy?

Not only because of wonderful Italian food, fashion, art and design...

Italian scientists in Italy and abroad have had some amazing successes over the years, however, maybe because of the lack of PR that many other countries use extensively, maybe because Italian researchers are often more modest than many of their world counterparts, their place in the scientific community is seldom one of recognized successful leaders.

This is one of the reasons why Bridges to Italy has been formed, to give Italian scientists in Italy and abroad a chance to get better known in the scientific community and the business world, network with their peers in Italy and around the world and offer and seize business and research opportunities and collaborations.

The Association's activities include:

- Italy-USA workshops and conferences;
- International training;
- Client-sponsored market research and business plan writing;
- Assistance to Italian and US firms in accessing sources of capital and potential partners in Italy or in the US;
- Promotion of collaborations with US universities and Research Institutes for research and technology transfer purposes;
- Help for Italian companies to navigate the complex US business environment and viceversa.

EARTHQUAKES: The Secrets is in their Vibrations

Vibrations are known to affect frictional sliding and the associated stick-slip patterns causing sometimes a drastic reduction of the friction force. This issue is relevant for applications in nanotribology and to understand earthquake triggering by small dynamic perturbations.
